A convention has not been seriously considered in my lifetime because the risk was deemed too high. Now that we appear to be facing a constitutional crisis, the risk may tilt the other way. I used to think the Supremes had our backs, but now I'm not sure. In any event, we could all use a reminder that our Constitution does not enforce itself.
